At subscription time the user can request membership of a number (99 maximum)
of CUGs.
It is a security facility to:
- Provide privacy and security at a level previously associated with private networks.
- Ensure that members only make datacalls within the CUG.
There are a number of options -
- Calls only to and from other members of the CUG.
- As for 1 plus calls to any other user (outgoing access)
- As for 1 plus calls from any other user (incoming access access)
- As for 1 plus calls to and from any other user.
Membership of a CUG is the responsibility of the CUG controller: the person
who requests the provision of the facility.
Users are charged a connection charge and a flat rate quarterly rental for
each CUG.

The facility field is optional if the user subscribes to the basic service
and is making a call to their 1st choice CUG.
