Linux - installing SUSE 10.3 - initialising - Platforms

from unpack SuSE

Insert SuSE install DVD as described here. Restart shuttle by pressing button on front.

After the welcome screen we get the menu options:

suse menu

My screen resolution is 1280x1024 so it helps to press f3 and select 1280x1024 here.

use arrow keys to select 'Installation' and press enter.

suse uk english

Used mouse to select English UK (The installation seems to be improved here, in the past there were problems with using the muse at this stage)

suse licence

Agree to licence and click next.

I chose 'new installation' as I want to overwrite a previous version of the operating system.

suse initialise

suse time zone

I chose UK time zone.

suse gui

I chose KDE (KDE3) as thats the GUI I know best (no KDE4 option at this stage).

cover us uk de SuSE Linux 11.0. Operating system with a wide range of applications including Open Office. A good distribution for developers as it contains KDevelop. Java, Mono, etc. Can install itself as a dual-boot system with an existing Windows OS if required. For information about installing it see this page.
